Carpets Maintenance

Carpet & rug maintenance and cleaning

You have purchased a quality item. In order to keep it looking at its best, we suggest that you follow these recommendations:

Regular use

In order to avoid uneven wear and tear, it is recommended that you periodically rotate the carpet and re-position the furniture.

Before storing a carpet, first make sure that the facilities are dry, clean and aerated.

A carpet should never be folded. They are made to be rolled.

When a carpet is cared for in a regulated and reasonable manner, it will be long lasting.

Carpet cleaning

To retain a long lasting good looking carpet requires keeping it clean.

Since most dirt is brought into the home on shoes, it is recommended that you either remove your outdoor shoes, or use an outdoor, shoe wiping mat, at the entrance to your home.

It is safer to use a tray when serving food and drinks. This will help prevent staining the carpet.

Developing family awareness of the above is an important step in safeguarding your carpet.

Cleaning Procedures

  • Periodical use of a vacuum cleaner will keep carpets free from dirt.
  • The use of a simple strong (up to 2,000 watts) vacuum cleaner is recommended for most carpets. Do not use a beating vacuum or one with active brushes.
  • It is also recommended that you shake-out a rug, whenever possible.

Stain Prevention

  • Avoid the formation of stains by cleaning them immediately.
  • Remove dirt with any blunt kitchenware.
  • Spilled liquids should be sponged or:
  • On porous carpets and rugs, you may place the affected area on top of a bowl and pour water (through the carpet) to remove the spillage. You may also use some washing powder but, in this case, rinse well.
  • You may use a hair dryer to dry the carpet or rug
  • On non-porous carpets and rugs: pour some water over the stain, sponge it and repeat this procedure until the results are satisfactory.
Here to, you may use a hair dryer for drying.

A carpet cleaning spray is always recommended. Just follow the instructions given by the manufacturer.
Baby wipes are also very useful for cleaning carpets and rugs.
  • Avoid the use of brushes or any rubbing movements on the carpet and rug. This will impair appearance. Instead of rubbing, lightly dab the area with whatever absorbent fabric you have chosen.
  • Wool has the tendency to felt, therefore you should take extreme care not to rub or brush woolen carpets and rugs.
  • When a carpet or rug becomes very dirty you may send it to carpet cleaners.
